on October 06, 2025, 04:23:50 pm
Maybe for somebody who’s Looking for a GTI

I don’t know how this works but a YouTuber “Saving Salvage”
is giving a GTI away on “Compete for cars”
Looks like it has been in a timecapsule…
Don’t shoot me of how this “Compete stuff” is working😅
Hopefully sombody can be the owner of this nice & clean example 😎👍🏻

For some reason I can’t upload a screenshot of it on here now?!?🙄
Go check it out on YouTube…

Believe there are two styles depending on year, one is hex one is triple square.

Penguin farts

So my issue is the needle drops when I turn heaters on
Both thermostats have been done and temp sensors using genuine parts, while driving the needle doesn’t drop, the needle will only

You'#039ll need to replace the ABS pump, had the same issue, the amber steering light is very difficult to go out when you have the solid EPS light on, think I did a 50 mile trip and it randomly went off. I had to replace my ABS pump in the end to resolve the ESP light stuck on issue, once replaced the amber steering light will go out after a full turn to the left then right after 20-

Done mine, yes the option only becomes available once the rack is swapped out, daunting i know!

There are two settings you need to update.

-17° is badass lol

Its fair to say that there are many 2.0 tfsi'#039s bombing around with high mileage on the original chains. The 400k plus GTI on here has never had the chain and associated components replaced.

That said, mine is sitting at a wild -17°. I'#039ve an original cam

Beware the bolts for the control arms below from LEMFÖRDER/FEBI are slightly longer compared to the vw original bolts.

Time stamp: 12:32 - also a great guide if your doing the work.

Re: What is the best engine oil to use on Mk5 GTI - standard car no mods
Last Poster: rxpx69 in Mk5 General Area on Today at 12:30:26 am
Snake oil, I've been running the cheapest oil that meets the VAG 504/507 standard for 10yrs now without any silver in the oil

Re: Help with osr window motor replacement
Last Poster: rxpx69 in Mk5 General Area on Today at 12:24:50 am
Could try swapping the working rear side window motor into the non working side as a test if you want to save money, but i don't think the window motor has anything to do with the central locking motor.

Re: Known Issues
Last Poster: rxpx69 in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 11:54:33 pm
Stuff i'#039ve come across coming from a MK3:
Balance shaft - mine seized up
If the Thermostat fails its a long job to replace
ABS pump can fail with ESP light stuck on
AC pump and AC pressure switch fail
AC condenser probably wants changing due to age
Door locks fail (a lot) i'#039ll be replacing the passenger side front and both rears this weekend nbsp :signL

Re: Mot nightmare of the decade...

Amber steering light should go out after 20-30 seconds, all the way left all the way right, steering wheel straight and drive a couple of meters in a straight line no more than 20MPH.
I had an issue when my ABS pump needed to be replaced the ESP light was stuck on amber yellow and after disconnecting the battery no matter what I tried the amber steering light would not clear!

Last Poster: Simonsach in Mk5 General Area on December 06, 2025, 03:04:36 pm
I’ve a soaking wet drivers floor. Watched countless videos. Had roof lining off and checked all pipes. Had rubber hoses out, cut, cleaned and replaced. Had windscreen wipers off and checked for blockages. Still leaking. Need a local garage to fix. Any recommendations near Portsmouth/Southampton

Yup, it'#039s know to happen on VW'#039s, many broken keys and ppl getting stuck in some remote area. Just had mine changed a few days ago, aftermarket one, guy came home, 130 GBP and 40mins later fixed and smooth as butte

Chirping sound at low RPM - what could it be?
Last Poster: hcmzah in Mk5 General Area on December 03, 2025, 06:14:05 pm
Hi all,

I'#039m getting a bird chirping sound when I accelerate very slowly up to 2k rpm. It sounds like it'#039s coming from the right hand side of the car when in the cabin.
It only happens when I have my foot on the accelerator pedal, as soon as I let go, it stops. Doesn'#039t happen if it'#039s just rolling.

The sound is a lot more consistent when turning sharply

Just to resolve this, CH-Rs in 18x8.5 et47 will NOT clear 986 calipers without a spacer.

Edition 30 Rear Valance -Pearl Black (Genuine Part)
£80.00
Location: Manchester
Collection Only

For Sale is my old Pearl Black Edition 30 rear valance. This clips into the upper section of your rear bumper.
This was removed from my golf due someone backing into me at low speed causing surface cracks. (they offered to pay for a new valance)

The surface cracks are around the the number plate area which I've tried to photo the best i can.

The exhaust surround has been bonded back on by the body shop after an encounter with a high kerb a few years ago.

There are storage scratches on the paintwork so will need respraying. You will also need a towing eye cover.

All clips to clip the valance upper bumper section are intact and there is no sign of warping.

This is a genuine valance and was fitted to my ED30 from the factory.
